Voice
From Outer Space  ^
An irregular trigger signal pattern is obtained from pink noise via the A AMP,
RM, INV, ADD AMP, and VS modules. After amplification (A AMP) it is fed in parallel
to the ring modulator, then the signal is inverted (INV), then mixed with a
+2V bias signal from the VS in the ADD AMP, thereby producing the irregular
trigger.

Automatic
S/H Performance  ^
VCF self-oscillation is the sound source. Pink noise is applied to the S/H and
the output used to vary the VCF fc.

Laser Gun  ^
The basic tone color is obtained by mixing VCF self-oscillation with white noise.
How long the sound continues depends on whether you hit the TRIG SW quickly
or hold it down.
n.b. this patch is incorrect - you need to patch the Trigger Switch out
put to the Trig In of Envelope Generator 1, and not the Signal Input of the
VCA. Likewise, the output of the Adding Amplifier goes to the Signal Input of
the VCA, not the Trig In of Envelope Generator 1 - swap them over for this patch
to work as it should.

Machine
Gun  ^
Press the TRIG SW to fire the machine gun. When the EG-2 is triggered, its output
is inverted (INV) and mixed in the ADD AMP with the MG PW output. Try connecting
the ADD AMP output to the volt meter (VM) DC IN and checking how the voltage changes
on the volt meter. The basic gun sound is from VCF self-oscillation.

European
Police Car Siren  ^
FM is applied to the VCO rectangle wave. The pitch is changed up and down by three
degrees (from do to mi).
![[ms50 thumb]](../../images/ms50/patches/50thumb.jpg)
Dive Bombing  ^
Hold down the TRIG SW until the bomb explodes. VCF self-oscillation gives the
diving sound and noise is applied to the A AMP and increased until clipping distortion
occurs to give the explosion.

Slow Attack Guitar
 ^
EG-1 and VCA are the keys to the slow attack effect. Adjust the ATTACK knob as
you like. Trigger length depends on a A AMP level. Since the VCA input signal
can become distorted, be sure to keep it within 3Vp-p.

Guitar Picking
Wow  ^
Adjust A AMP setting so that the peak indicator only lights occasionally, while
the trigger indicator stays on only as there is sound from the guitar. Keep VCF
input level within 3Vp-p to prevent distortion. Try using EG-1 OUT-3 instead of
OUT-2. The effect will be reversed. You can also get auto-wow by patching the
MG triangle wave output to the VCF fc input.
![[ms50 thumb]](../../images/ms50/patches/50thumb.jpg)
Tremolo  ^
You can add tremolo to any electronic instrument. Just take the instrument's output
and patch it into the VCA signal input jack. MG FREQ determines speed; ADD AMP
CH-1 level determines the intensity of the tremolo. Adjust both as necessary.

Synthesizer
Stereo Ping Pong  ^
The synthesizer must be connected to a stereo system or two separate amps. As
you play, the sound will go back and forth between the two speaker systems with
every other note played (every other trigger signal produced by the MS-10 or MS-20
keyboard).
