1-10 SAMPLE & HOLD (S/H)

This circuit samples the input signal at regular intervals and then holds the voltage at the level sampled until the next sample is taken. The result is a stepped output signal.

For example, with the settings as shown in fig. 18 and pink noise as the input signal, a number of random tones of varying pitch will be produced at regular intervals. Now if you turn the Synchro switch ON (while still using pink noise), the intervals at which the input is sampled will also become random.
